Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Mike made his way to Calgary at the tender age of 19 to start his creative career. After a decade of drawing, doodling and designing, he took a position at McCann Canada in 2003. He quickly worked his way into the role of VP Creative Director, and during his 13 year tenure there he led them to become Alberta's most creatively-awarded agency. He left McCann in 2016 to start his own studio, Meadus Design. He also serves as Canadian Executive Creative Director for AdFarm, Canada's largest AgriMarketing agency.
He’s had his work recognized by Communication Arts 16 times, won over 80 Applied Arts Advertising & Design Awards, over 40 Graphis Awards—including a dozen Platinums, multiple Gold ADCC Awards, hundreds of CAMA and NAMA awards, garnered in-book recognition numerous times from Clios, Cannes, Art Directors Club and London International Awards, and has won Pencils at both the One Show and D&AD Awards.
He’s been a judge for Communication Arts, London International Awards, Canadian Marketing Awards, Society of Graphic Designers of Canada and Applied Arts, has spoken at numerous design and advertising conferences, and has had his work featured in Print, How, Luerzer's Archive, Contagious, LogoLounge and Taschen's 'Advertising Now' coffee-table book series.
In 2008 he was named one of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40.
He's currently awaiting the call from Calgary's Top 50 Under 50.
